We welcome members from all around the world, as well as those who live locally.
There are two types of membership; Virtual and Branch members. Virtual members are not affiliated to a particular branch whilst Branch members can join one in a location near to where they live or where their area of research is located.
Members enjoy being part of a community with like minded family historians, who can all share information and knowledge in a variety of ways such as at meetings and events or taking part in branch initiatives.
They receive valuable information about resources and activities on a regular basis via the Society newsletter and the twice yearly Journal, North Irish Roots.
The Members’ Area of our website provides a wealth of information including searchable indexes of records held at our Research Centre, with a Look Up Service for those unable to visit the centre.
Volunteering in the Society is a great opportunity for members to connect with others, extend their knowledge and make a much appreciated contribution. There is a wide range of opportunities to help out, from participating in the running of their Branch to transcribing records for our library or representing the Society at a public family history event.
