Larne

Larne Branch are heavily involved in the DNA Projects for Ballycarry and Islandmagee, both with identifying people who are descended from the main families that have been highlighted by the project and in the testing of these family members. This has helped us as a Branch and also enabled us to spread what the Society offers to its members.

Larne Branch hold a Chat Night every month, which is in addition to our Members night. This enables branch members to chat more on their family research, get help with brick walls and share how we each carry out and record that research. These have been very informal zoom nights and our members are able to chat freely with each other and ask for help.

We at Larne Branch have our own dedicated Branch Library, which is held locally. The books, copies of family trees and maps, some of those which have been donated or purchased by members, are lent out to Branch Members on request. A full list of these are held by the Branch.

When?

Larne Branch usually meets on the third Thursday of the month at 7:15 p.m. from September to May.

Publications

Larne Branch has produced two publications based on its research activities:

  • Resting in Larne’s Green Land
  • On Tranquil Land or Stormy Sea

They are now out of print but they are available at the local library, and the Society’s Research Centre has a copy.
