For over 40 years promoting and encouraging the private and public study of family history, genealogy, heraldry and local history with particular reference to the nine counties of Ulster.
The North of Ireland Family History Society provides a wealth of support and resources for anyone researching their ancestors in Ulster and beyond.
Our members are both local and from all around the globe. Some belong to one of our nine Branches, taking advantage of the local knowledge they provide and others are Virtual members with no affiliation to a particular Branch. They all enjoy many unique benefits and being part of a worldwide friendly community.
The Society runs a dedicated Research Centre which is packed with transcriptions, records, books and maps, often not found elsewhere. Anyone is welcome to visit the Centre – our knowledgeable members will give you guidance and help.
We place a strong emphasis on DNA innovation, education and promotion to encourage its use in family history research alongside traditional methods, benefitting a large and ever growing database of DNA testers, all with ancestors from the North of Ireland.
